Trauma Informed Yoga at our W. Chocolate Avenue, Hershey, location.
Classes are held Saturday morning at 9:30 AM at a cost of $10 per session.

*Kindly provide your own yoga mat if you are able, otherwise one will be provided for you.
Please email the BHWA to RSVP your space, as it is limited to 10 participants in each session.

What is Trauma Informed Yoga?
Every class includes a breath centering practice. You move through simple and accessible poses with an emphasis on being mindful of your breath and thought patterns. Every cue offered in class is an empowering invitation as the teacher reminds each student that they are always in control of their own practice. There are no physical adjustments offered in class; instead only verbal instruction is used. Students have the opportunity to create an environment in class that feels comfortable for them. Elements of Progressive Muscle Relaxation and other stress reduction techniques are utilized. The method is appropriate for all body types and level of ability, including pregnancy.

Meet Elizabeth: I first became interested in yoga as a tool to stay fit between sports seasons in high school. During college, my practice shifted from a form of exercise to a self-regulating tool, when I realized that a regular practice was easing my long-term back pain and helping me to better cope with stress.  I practiced various styles of yoga, including Vinyasa, Yin, Integral, Vini-yoga, Hot and Power yoga all over the world.

I draw inspiration from my teachers and experiences to offer flows that allow students to feel the breath-body-mind connection in each class. Yoga Poses are a tool that can be used to observe your own thought patterns and internal dialogue. Personally, once I learned to recognize my own tendencies I was able to practice being less reactive. I learned how to be kinder to myself and others. I truly believe that a constant practice helps bring a state of mindfulness that every person and every community could benefit from.

The Academy has the flexibility to work with organizations, businesses, schools and academies, assisted living and retirement communities and other agencies to provide services that are individually navigated to meet specialized needs. If you are interested in learning how The Academy could work for your agency, we would love to speak with you!
