Psychological Evaluations
A psychological evaluation is a process that involves obtaining an extensive personal history, utilizing results from self-report and review of pertinent records from ancillary supports. The information obtained is summarized into a document that provides a snapshot of overall history and events, current behavioral and/or academic concerns, a diagnostic profile that includes any identified behavioral health diagnosis(es) and recommendations for addressing the identified needs.
Evaluations are often sought at the recommendation of a physician, an educator or another behavioral health professional. At times psychological evaluations or testing are required for vocational or other pursuits. Individuals are also able to refer themselves if they feel it is necessary. Psychological evaluations are a staple for helping to identify initial and ongoing treatment needs when outpatient therapy is unable to effect desired change.
We respect the need for a timely completion of evaluations so outcomes can be utilized as quickly as possible in ongoing treatment or to guide best care. Evaluations are often completed with two weeks of your final appointment.
Many evaluations are covered by insurance.
If you are in need of an evaluation that is mandated by the court, most insurance providers will not cover these. Contact us to discuss your options and out of pocket rates.
