Therapy
We provide therapy for school-aged children (roughly age 7 years) through adulthood. Therapy can range from one individual to including an entire family system. From the outset of the therapeutic relationship, working collaboratively is of the utmost importance to determine what your goals are and how to best work toward achieving those goals.
A Note On Treatment with Children and Adolescents:
Though symptoms similar to those seen in adults are often noted in children and adolescents, it is important that these behaviors/experiences be understood in the context of age and development. Behavioral patterns in children and adolescents often have different root causes and systems of change than what adults may experience. Understanding the developmental differences of children/adolescents and how treatment meets these developmental differences is of utmost importance for therapeutic success.
Any child or adolescent in care will require the active participation and support of a parent or guardian. In instances of custody arrangements, documentation of legal custody will need to be presented at the time of the initial intake appointment.

How do I know if CBT is right for me?
CBT has been found to work well for a variety of symptom relief. Though it is a very structured approach to treatment, the process itself is very much individualized. Within the principles of CBT the work that is completed between the therapist and the individual is paced and toned to meet the needs of the individual while continuing to work toward the outcome desired. That may look different for each person. Having a conversation about the process of CBT and discussing how it is working and impacting you during initial sessions is a great way to see if it feels like a good fit for you.
